Whataburger Creamy Pepper Sauce

Whataburger Creamy Pepper Sauce

Whataburger’s Creamy Pepper Sauce is a savory, slightly spicy mayonnaise-based sauce with a blend of smoky and tangy flavors. Unlike traditional mayo-based sauces, this one has a bolder flavor due to the addition of Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Base:

    • ½ cup mayonnaise – The creamy, rich base of the sauce. This makes it smooth and thick.

    • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard – Adds tang and depth, giving the sauce a slight sharpness that balances the richness.

    • 1 tablespoon ketchup – Slight sweetness to balance flavors. It also adds a subtle tomato tang that enhances the sauce’s depth.

    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce – Brings umami and depth, making the sauce more complex and flavorful.

    • 1 teaspoon white vinegar – Adds acidity for balance, preventing the sauce from being too heavy or creamy.

For the Spices & Heat:

    • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika – Adds a smoky, slightly sweet undertone, bringing that signature depth to the sauce.

    • ½ teaspoon black pepper – Provides mild heat and balance, complementing the creamy base without overpowering it.

    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder – Infuses a savory, garlicky flavor, giving the sauce a restaurant-quality taste.

    • ½ teaspoon onion powder – Enhances overall depth and adds a subtle, slightly sweet aroma.

    • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper – Gives a subtle spicy kick (adjust to taste), allowing you to control the heat level.

    • ¼ teaspoon salt – Enhances all the flavors, making each ingredient stand out.

Instructions

Step 1: Mix the Ingredients

    1. In a small mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and white vinegar. Make sure to stir well until smooth and fully combined.

    1. The mixture should already have a light pinkish-orange color from the ketchup and mustard.

Step 2: Add the Spices

    1. Add smoked paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, and salt to the mixture.

    1. Stir thoroughly until all the spices are evenly incorporated, ensuring there are no clumps.

Step 3: Let the Flavors Develop

    1. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for best results). This allows the flavors to blend and intensify.

    1. If you taste the sauce right away, it may feel too strong or unbalanced, so let it sit for the best results.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy!

    1. Use as a burger sauce, dipping sauce, or sandwich spread.

    1. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. The flavors will continue to develop over time.
