Dave’s Hot Chicken Sauce

Dave’s Hot Chicken Sauce is a spicy, tangy, and slightly sweet sauce that pairs beautifully with fried chicken. It’s a creamy blend of hot sauce, mayo, and spices, designed to enhance the flavor of crispy chicken dishes.

Ingredients

Scale

    • 1/2 cup mayonnaise

    • 2 tablespoons hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot or your favorite brand)

    • 1 tablespoon ketchup

    • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for heat)

    • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

    • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

    • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder

    • 1 teaspoon honey (optional, for sweetness)

    • 1 tablespoon pickle juice (or lemon juice)

    • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Combine the base ingredients

    • In a mixing bowl, combine mayonnaise, hot sauce, and ketchup. Whisk until smooth and creamy.

Step 2: Add the spices

    • Stir in cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well to incorporate.

Step 3: Adjust the flavors

    • Add honey for a touch of sweetness and pickle juice (or lemon juice) for tanginess. Stir thoroughly to blend.

Step 4: Taste and tweak

    • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning or spice level to your liking. Add more cayenne for extra heat or additional honey for sweetness.

Step 5: Chill and serve

    • Cover the sauce and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to let the flavors meld. Serve cold or at room temperature.
