cranberry hot sauce

Cranberry hot sauce is a tangy, spicy condiment made from fresh cranberries, chili peppers, vinegar, and sugar. It’s a perfect blend of sweetness, acidity, and heat, ideal for enhancing both savory and sweet dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 12 fresh chili peppers (e.g., jalapeño, serrano, or habanero), chopped
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed (to adjust consistency)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the ingredients

  • Rinse the cranberries and chili peppers under cold water.
  • Chop the chili peppers, removing seeds for less heat if desired.

Step 2: Cook the cranberries and chili peppers

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the cranberries, chili peppers, and orange juice.
  • Add 1/4 cup of water and bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Step 3: Add vinegar and sugar

  • Stir in apple cider vinegar, sugar, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
  • Reduce the heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cranberries burst and the mixture thickens.

Step 4: Blend the sauce

  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then transfer it to a blender or use an immersion blender to puree until smooth.
  • Add water as needed to achieve your desired consistency.

Step 5: Season and store

  • Taste the sauce and adjust seasoning with additional salt or sugar if needed.
  • Transfer to a clean jar or bottle and let it cool completely before refrigerating.
