Texas Roadhouse Rolls

Texas Roadhouse Rolls are soft, fluffy yeast rolls with a subtle sweetness and a golden-brown crust. They are known for their light texture and buttery finish, often served warm with a signature cinnamon honey butter spread. These rolls are perfect for mopping up sauces, enjoying as a side dish, or simply eating on their own.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough:

    • 4 cups all-purpose flour – Provides the structure for the rolls, giving them a soft yet sturdy texture.

    • 1 packet (2 ¼ teaspoons) active dry yeast – Helps the dough rise, making the rolls fluffy and airy.

    • 1 cup warm milk (110°F/45°C) – Activates the yeast and adds richness to the dough.

    • ¼ cup granulated sugar – Adds a subtle sweetness, enhancing the classic Texas Roadhouse flavor.

    • 1 large egg – Contributes to the dough’s softness and structure.

    • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter (melted) – Adds richness and a buttery taste to the rolls.

    • 1 teaspoon salt – Balances the sweetness and enhances the overall flavor.

For Brushing:

    • 2 tablespoons melted butter – Brushed on top for a glossy, golden-brown finish.

For Cinnamon Honey Butter:

    • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened) – The creamy base of the spread.

    • ¼ cup honey – Adds a natural sweetness that complements the rolls.

    • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon – Gives a warm, aromatic flavor that pairs beautifully with the honey.

    • Pinch of salt – Enhances the sweetness and brings out the flavors.

Instructions

Step 1: Activate the Yeast

    • In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast.

    • Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy, indicating that the yeast is active.

Step 2: Prepare the Dough

    • Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture and mix well.

    • Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Step 3: Knead the Dough

    • Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 4: Shape the Rolls

    • Punch down the dough to release air bubbles and roll it out into a ½-inch thick rectangle.

    • Cut into equal-sized squares or rectangles, then place them on a greased baking sheet.

Step 5: Second Rise

    • Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise again for about 30–40 minutes until puffy.

Step 6: Bake to Perfection

    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the rolls for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown.

    • Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter while they’re still warm.

Step 7: Prepare the Cinnamon Honey Butter

    • Mix softened butter, honey, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl until smooth.

    • Serve alongside warm rolls for the ultimate experience.
